Body Type Calculator
About the Body Type Calculator
This calculator estimates your somatotype (body type) based on wrist circumference, height, weight, and body proportions. The three main body types — ectomorph, mesomorph, and endomorph — describe different physical characteristics that can influence training and nutrition strategies.
The Formula
Height-to-wrist ratio = height (cm) / wrist circumference (cm). Higher ratios indicate a slender frame (ectomorph), while lower ratios indicate a broader frame (endomorph). BMI and shoulder-to-hip ratio are also factored in. This combined scoring system provides a body type classification with training and nutrition guidance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can your body type change?
Your basic skeletal structure (bone size, frame) is genetically determined and does not change. However, training and nutrition can significantly alter your muscle mass and body fat, changing your appearance and some characteristics associated with your body type.
What if I have traits of multiple body types?
Most people are a mix of two types rather than a pure somatotype. For example, an ecto-mesomorph has a slender frame but builds muscle relatively easily. Your training and nutrition plan can be adjusted based on your dominant and secondary traits.
